Meet Purple Dive Team
Our vision
All of us at Purple Dive Penida have worked in the dive industry for many years. We believe a dive centre should be eco-friendly, promote safe and fun diving for all and, of course, deliver the highest teaching standards...so we made our own. All our team have been in Bali and the surrounding area for a long time and Indonesia is the place we call home. Diving is our passion and like people who are passionate about something, we want to share it with the world. We are also very proud to be an entirely female-owned and run dive shop. For female divers, we hope you will find a safe and friendly place here with us.
We believe in strong educational standards, a patient and friendly approach when teaching diving, and we strive to train the best divers and dive professionals using the PADI system of education.
We feel very strongly about the importance of conservation for our oceans and our planet, which is why we have built our dive centre with this idea in mind. Julia and Helene actually met....as volunteers for Trash Hero. It was an auspicious start to say the least! Using eco-friendly materials, reusing and recycling as much as we can and not using disposable plastic, are a few of the things we do here at the dive centre. We are also members of 1% for the Planet, meaning that 1% of our turnover goes directly to environment protection. We are a certified Green Fins dive centre, as well as PADI Eco Centre.

Meet the people behind Purple
Hélène
Co-founder & Director
Helene learnt how to dive as a teenager and was hooked on the underwater world from an early age. She trained as a PADI Divemaster in 2006, then made Bali her home in 2012. She became PADI Course Director in 2016 and has taught dozens of instructors. Nowadays she is mainly running the dive center!
Julia
Co-founder & PADI IDC Staff
Julia became a Divemaster in 2001. At first it was only a fun seasonal job for when she went travelling but it did make her want to protect the fishies and study marine conservation. She worked in this field in Madagascar for while before going into teaching diving full time.
She has been involved with Reef Check Indonesia and is a Reef Check Trainer.
Yvonne
PADI Course Director
Yvonne is from Singapore and has been enjoying scuba diving for over a decade now. She is a PADI Course Director and an invaluable resource at Purple, as she knows the dive sites like the back of her hand! Yvonne speaks English, Mandarin and Indonesian.
She teaches the PADI Instructor program, as well as assisting with the general dive organisation. She is also excellent with gear fixing!
Lisa
GM & PADI IDC Staff
Lisa is from the UK and is also a nurse. She is in charge of pretty much a bit of everything here, which is why you will often hear people around here say: "Ask Lisa".
You might see her in the office, on the boat or somewhere else around the dive centre!
Our Dive Team
Our Divemasters and Instructors are all certified PADI dive professionals. Whilst they come from different corners of the world, they all have one thing in common: they LOVE diving! Not only will they will teach you new skills but will also share their contagious passion for scuba diving that is sure to ignite a passion in you! They all have extensive knowledge of Nusa Penida diving and will show you the best marine life we have to offer.

Our logistic team
Boat captains Sade, Kadek and Rian and the rest of their team are here to make sure you have a great day out with us!
They are vital to our operation as they make sure you have a safe and comfortable trip out in the ocean every day. Whether you need a coffee, a hand to set up your gear, or a friendly smile, they are here for you!
They will also be happy to give you some tips about their beautiful island.
