How to get to Nusa Penida from Bali
From South Bali to Nusa Penida:
Sanur is the main harbour in South Bali. Several speed boat companies operate daily from Bali to Nusa Penida, including Maruti, Angel Billabong, Semabu Hills, and Axe Stone. Some companies can arrange pick up in Bali and some will even organise pick up from the airport. The boat journey takes around 40 minutes from Sanur and you can book tickets online here.
From Kusamba to Nusa Penida:
Depending on where you are coming from, Kusamba might be a better option (especially if you are coming from the North or the East of Bali). The boat price is usually cheaper than from Saunur and the boat ride is quicker, about 20 minutes. However, there are fewer boats therefore less departure time options. From Kusamaba, we recommend Gangga Express boat.
From Padang Bai / North Bali to Nusa Penida:
If you would like to come across with a vehicle (motorbike or car) your best bet is the public ferry from Padang Bai. Be warned that to get on the 2pm boat you may have to arrive at 6am to secure a place!
There is also a speed boat service from Padang Bai (good if coming from North or East Bali). It is cheap, however, it leaves very early in the morning, is often full and not very comfortable. There are no direct boats from Amed, so from the North of Bali, going through Kusamba would be the nearest option.
From Benoa harbour to Nusa Penida:
If you are coming from Nusa Dua or other southern spots, there are a couple of companies operating from Benoa harbour.
From Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Penida:
Small boats operate all day long until 5pm and will take you from the Yellow Bridge in Nusa Lembongan to Toyapakeh harbour in Nusa Penida, the ride only takes a few minutes and usually costs around 50,000 IDR.
You will find further information about transport options on this page.
Once in Nusa Penida, we are located between two harbours, about 10 minutes from Sampalan harbour and 20 minutes from Toyapakeh harbour. If you need assistance to organise transport, please let us know. You can also easily rent a motorbike in either harbour.
